Most accounting packages will import an OFX file but cannot read a PDF at all. That leaves the familiar choice between typing a statement in by hand and paying for a bank feed. This converter reads the PDF and writes the OFX for you.

Extraction uses the same engine as our bank statement converter, so the layouts of over a thousand banks are already understood - including scanned statements, which are read with OCR. Each transaction becomes an <STMTTRN> entry carrying its posting date, amount, description and a stable transaction ID.

That ID matters more than it sounds. Importers use it to recognise a transaction they have already seen, so if you import the same statement twice you get one copy of each entry rather than two. Ours is derived from the content of the transaction, not its position in the file, so it stays the same across re-exports.

The output is OFX 1.0.2, the SGML flavour, because that is what Quicken, Sage, GnuCash and MS Money expect. If you need a PDF from an OFX instead, use the OFX to PDF converter.
