Convert Chase Statements to Excel or CSV

You need the real PDF, not a screenshot and not the transaction list you see on screen. Here is the path on a desktop browser.

1. Sign in at chase.com.
2. Pick the account you want from the list on your dashboard.
3. Open Statements. Depending on the account type it sits under the account name, or under an Account services or More menu.
4. Choose the statement period you need from the dropdown.
5. Click the download icon and save the PDF.

The file comes down with a name like 20260430-statements-1234-.pdf — the date, the word statements, then the last four digits of your account. That is the file to upload.

Chase keeps roughly seven years of statements available online, so you can pull a full year for a loan application or several years for an accountant in one sitting. Download them one month at a time and convert them separately, or merge them first with our free PDF merge tool.

If you only ever get paper statements, switch on paperless in your Chase profile. Statements from that point on become downloadable PDFs, which convert far more accurately than a scan of a printout.

The Chase Mobile app can hand you the same PDF. On a phone the trick is getting the file somewhere you can upload it from.

1. Open the Chase Mobile app and sign in.
2. Tap the account you want.
3. Tap Statements. On some account types it is behind the three-dot or Account services menu.
4. Tap the month you need. The PDF opens in a viewer.
5. Use the share or download icon and save it to Files (iPhone) or Downloads (Android).

Then come back to this page in your phone browser, tap the upload area, and pick the file you just saved. The whole thing works on a phone — you do not need a computer.

Do not screenshot the app

A screenshot is a picture. The text has to be recognised from the image, which is much less reliable on a page full of similar-looking dollar amounts. The PDF has real text in it, so every figure is read exactly. If you have already tried a screenshot and the result looked wrong, that is why.

Chase does not use one statement layout. It uses several, and they are genuinely different documents, so each is read on its own terms.

• Chase personal checking and savings — the transaction-detail layout with a running balance after every line.
• Chase credit cards (Freedom, Sapphire, Amazon Prime Visa and the rest) — these have no running balance at all. Transactions sit under Payments and Other Credits and Purchases, dates print as MM/DD with no year, and whether a line is a charge or a refund is decided by the sign on the amount.
• Chase Business Complete Checking — the sectioned business layout: Deposits and Additions, Checks Paid, Electronic Withdrawals, ATM and Debit Card Withdrawals, and Fees, each with its own subtotal.
• Chase UK current accounts — the British layout with Money In, Money Out and a balance column.

You do not have to pick which one you have. The file is identified from what is printed inside it.

A detail that matters on Chase card statements

Chase prints small amounts without a leading zero — a 99 cent charge shows as .99, not 0.99. Readers that expect a digit before the decimal point drop those lines silently, and the total quietly comes up short. Those rows are picked up here, which is part of why the purchase total actually matches.

Every Chase statement carries its own summary, and that summary is used as a test rather than ignored.

On a credit card statement the purchases must add up to the printed Purchases figure, the payments and credits must add up to the printed Payment, Credits figure, and the account equation has to close: Previous Balance − Payments + Purchases = New Balance.

On a Business Complete Checking statement each section total must match the Checking Summary — deposits, checks paid, electronic withdrawals and fees — and the number of rows in each section must match the instance count Chase prints beside it. Then Beginning Balance + deposits − checks − withdrawals − fees = Ending Balance.

If any of that fails to add up, the conversion is not handed to you as finished. You will never get a tidy-looking spreadsheet that has quietly lost a transaction or filed a refund as a charge.

Excel is treating my dates as text

That is an Excel regional setting, not the file. Select the date column and use Data > Text to Columns > Finish, or set the column format to Date.

My credit card export has no balance column

That is correct and expected. Chase card statements do not print a running balance, so there is nothing to put there. You get the date, the merchant, the amount and whether it was a purchase or a credit.

The file is a scan or a photo

Re-download the PDF from chase.com or the app instead. Chase gives you a real text PDF, and it will always convert more accurately than an image of one.
